ANNAPOLIS, MD — This week, Marylanders learned that long-time Texan Charles Murphy who is running for Delegate in Maryland is actually registered to vote in Texas.

“Marylanders deserve a leader who actually lives in their community and shares their values, not an out-of-state MAGA Republican plant trying to parachute into Maryland,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chair Steuart Pittman. “Charles Murphy is an out-of-state MAGA Republican who threatens to bring Donald Trump’s costly agenda to Maryland—we deserve better.”

As of September 2026, Republican candidate Charles Murphy III maintains an active voter registration in Texas, according to official Harris County records. Murphy registered to vote in Harris County on February 26, 2012, and is currently registered at a Spring, Texas house his parents purchased in 2023.

State records reveal that Murphy registered to vote in Maryland when he launched his political campaign. He registered to vote in Maryland on February 23, 2026, which happens to be the exact same day he officially filed to run for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 42A.

Murphy’s dual active status highlights critical administrative and legal questions under election integrity frameworks.In contrast to Murphy’s questionable residency, Democratic candidate Jyoti Mohan brings authentic local commitment to District 42A.
